Media-Pro Enterprises LLC

Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Steve Wilder, and I am the founder of Media-Pro Enterprises LLC. I have an extensive background in journalism, with more than 28 years of newspaper and magazine experience — including 11 years in the sports department of the New York Post and 12 years in the newsroom of The Hartford Courant. In between, I enjoyed eight years in sales and marketing for a leading publisher of sports art. I am currently offering my editing skills to publications and businesses of all sizes.

Professional Editing Services

An energetic copy editor and words manager, I deliver readable and accurate text in a wide variety of topics, and I am able to sell that text with attention-grabbing headlines. I work well with writers to clarify what’s unclear, and I understand the difference between rehabilitating text that needs a lot of work and tactfully polishing copy that doesn’t.

The drill:

  • eliminate wordiness
  • rewrite sloppy copy
  • correct spelling errors
  • repair poor punctuation
  • maintain style points
  • fact check aggressively
  • craft creative headlines
  • meet deadlines

As an independent copy editor for four years, I have handled a variety of assignments, including a wide range of articles for general interest publications, sales and marketing capsules, advertorial copy and website rehabilitation. My ability to edit effectively off-site is best reflected in a long-term relationship I have developed with a terrific bimonthly magazine that’s located about 300 miles from my home. This general interest publication has entrusted me with more than 1,600 hours of assignments over the last four years, including stories that have ranged from 350 words to more than 8,000.

11 Great Reasons To Hire An Independent Copy Editor

  • an honest hour of work for an hour of pay (if I’m not editing, the clock isn’t on)
  • no paid sick days
  • no paid vacations
  • no health insurance costs
  • no 401(k) contributions
  • you don’t have to worry about keeping an independent copy editor busy during slow times
  • you don’t have to provide a desk
  • or a computer
  • or a telephone
  • an independent copy editor’s workday doesn’t necessarily end at 5 p.m.
  • and an independent copy editor’s workweek doesn’t necessarily run Monday through Friday

Beyond Newspapers And Magazines

The trained eye of a professional copy editor is invaluable to any business that can’t afford the embarrassment of poorly written material.

Sloppy copy and inaccuracies can work their way into:

  • highly visible websites
  • marketing and advertising productions
  • business presentations
  • corporate publications
  • brochures and menus

Poorly written and inconsistent text is a turnoff and can result in lost business opportunities and damaged relationships.
